The CatchTed Bundy had approached a fourteen year old waiting for her brother to pick her up. Bundy said he was a fire fighter from the department that was near her school. She knew that she shouldn't talk to strangers. Her father was the Chief of Detectives for the Jacksonville police department. Thankfully, her brother arrived on time and told her to get in the car. Bundy too got into his car, unaware that the girl's brother followed him and took pictures of the car's license plate. Which they then showed to their father, who took them to the police station to have the number distributed statewide to cops and traffic guards.

FinallyBundy had decided to drive to Pensacola, Florida. Officer David Lee was patrolling the West side of Pensacola, when he noticed the unfamiliar orange Volkswagon at 10 p.m. on February 15th, 1978. Not recognizing the vehicle in the neighborhood, Officer Lee decided to run the licence plate through the system. Discovering that it was stolen, he decided to chase down the vehicle. Without warning the orange VW stopped and pulled over. The officer told Bundy to step out of the car and while apprehending him, Bundy managed to fight off the officer and ran off. Before he could flee, Officer Lee fired at him and Bundy pretended he'd been struck. Bundy once more attempted to fight off the officer, but was unsuccessful as Lee managed to handcuff him. Bundy was taken to the police station and was finally caught.
